Triotherm Insulated Door Upstands: A customisable solution

Triotherm offers a versatile range of insulated door upstands designed to meet the specific requirements of various building projects. These upstands are essential for providing thermal insulation and structural support.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Customizable Sizes: Triotherm door upstands can be ordered in standard sizes or made to bespoke dimensions, ensuring a perfect fit for any building project.
  • High-Performance Insulation: Constructed from either Triotherm+ profiles or MultiPro structural insulation boards, these upstands offer excellent thermal insulation properties.
  • Versatile Materials: Both Triotherm+ and MultiPro are identical in performance and can be used interchangeably. Triotherm+ is available in 85mm width, while MultiPro can be sourced in various prefabricated widths up to 120mm.
  • Easy Installation: The integrated interlockings allow for simple transportation and assembly, streamlining the installation process.

Determining the Ideal Upstand Height

The height of the Triotherm door upstand depends on several factors:

  • Floor Insulation: The height of the selected floor insulation.
  • Screed/Finishing Concrete: The thickness of the screed or finishing concrete layer.
  • Floor Covering: The type of floor covering (e.g., tiles, laminate, polished concrete).
  • Door/Window Frame: The height of the door saddle or bottom window frame.

By considering these factors, the required dimension for the insulated door upstand can be accurately calculated.

Recommended Depths

Triotherm recommends the following depths for door upstands based on the window or door frame depth:

  • 85mm: For frames up to 125mm deep (Triotherm+, 85mm)
  • 100mm: For frames up to 140mm deep (MultiPro, 100mm)
  • 120mm: For frames up to 160mm deep (Triotherm+, 85mm + MultiPro, 35mm)
  • 170mm: For frames from 170mm to 230mm deep (2 lines of Triotherm+, 85mm)

Best Practices for Installation

To ensure optimal performance and sealing, we recommend protruding the window or door frame by up to 20mm above the Triotherm door upstand on both the inside and outside. This allows for a better junction detail and facilitates easier installation of adjacent floor coverings like patio slabs.
